The Precious Stone trilogy

The Precious Stone Trilogy: By Kerstin Gier

Another teenage time traveling work of genius.... The Precious Stone Trilogy, also known as the Ruby Red series, is a great set of books swiveling around 16 year old Gwyneth Shepherd, who is totally unprepared to have her life turned around. (The Ruby Red series were originally written in German and then translated to English. Thus, the real name of the first book is "Rubinrot".)

Gwyneth Shepherd 's sophisticated, pretty cousin Charlotte has been prepared all her life for the day that she would become a time traveler. But it is Gwyneth who feels dizzy in school, and it's Gwyneth who jumps back in time when shopping for groceries.

At first, Gwyneth doubts it, because it was Charlotte who inherited the time traveling gene in her family. After encountering two more jumps, Gywneth's best friend convinces her to tell her mother, which she does.

Grace, Gwyneth's mother, immediately picks her up from school and takes her to a secret group, called the Lodge of Saint German, and explains to Gwyn that they are the only ones who can help her with her uncontrolled time jumps.

The lodge doesn't believe that Gwyneth could have the gene, as she was born on the wrong day. But Grace confesses to having the nurse counterfeit the documents as Grace did not want to involve her daughter in her family's problems.

The lodge, though skeptical, waits for Gwyneth to jump through time, by which time she is recognize the twelfth time traveler, the Ruby. In the lodge, Gwyneth meets the "increasingly cute" Diamond- Gideon de Villiers.

On the same day, she is set to meet the founder of the lodge, the first time traveler: Count Saint German.
Her mother, increasingly worried by the meeting, warns Gwyneth not to trust anyone. Gwyneth travels to the past with Gideon to meet the Count- where she is telepathically strangled by the Count.

On the way back from the Count's house, Gideon and Gwyn are attacked by two men. Gideon orders Gwyn to sit in the car while he fights them of, but Gwyneth, being Gwyneth, comes out. There, when she sees Gideon in a trapped position, she picks up a sword and kills one of the men..

The story continues from there, secrets are revealed, but the greatest mystery is yet to be solved...
